Milan Fashion Week: Vivetta AW16

We’ve long been fan-girls of the beautiful clothes that Vivi Ponti designs for her own name cult label Vivetta. Her collections are simply everything we want in our dream wardrobes and more: exquisite embroidery, a dose of wit and feminine elegance that we would happily spend the rest of our days wearing.

Vivetta has been presenting her catwalk shows for a couple of seasons now and every time we see an image pop up of one, we felt pangs of jealousy that we couldn’t experience it for ourselves in Milan. So this season we got ourselves organised, and planned a day trip to Italy! The venue was just off the centre Cathedral Piazza and was set in a beautiful old building that made us feel like we were in a fairytale.

Backstage an even bigger fairytale unfolded with the preview of Vivetta’s AW16 collection, making that 4am alarm call worth it. Inspired by Erté (aka Romain de Tirtoff), a Russian based artist who is famous for his contribution to the Art Deco style within Paris in 1920-30s. Erté was most famous for his elegant fashion designs on Broadway, and even Hollywood – we could write a whole blog post on him alone. Within the collection there was a strong nod to the 1970s with midi skirts, knee high boots and the most beautiful embroidered flared suits we’ve ever seen! It’s safe to say we think Vivetta’s latest collection is perfection, from the styling by Leith Clark, to the model casting and catwalk music.

We’ll let the rest of photos do the talking, thank you to Vivetta for giving us access backstage, we loved every minute. And a big thank you to Ellie Smith for all the beautiful photos too.
